Last evening, two elephants left the forest area on the mountain road leading to the Anuvavi Subramanya Swamy temple at Periya Thadagam in Coimbatore and crossed the hill path leading to the temple and entered the nearby forest area.



Coimbatore: Two elephants left the forest area and entered the nearby forest area on the hilly road leading to the Periya Thadagam Anuvavi Subramanya Swamy temple last evening.

According to the forest department, the incident has been avoided as devotees are prohibited from going on foot during this time.

At present, the elephant movement is more prevalent in periya thadagam area near Mangarai in Coimbatore district. The elephants, which had left the kerala forest area in the wake of the summer heat, have taken shelter in the forest area adjoining the mangarai big tank adjoining the tamil nadu forest area.

These elephants leave the forest area in the evening hours in Marudhamalai and Periya Thadagam area and enter nearby residential areas.



At around 5.30 p.m. yesterday, two elephants left the forest area on the hilly road leading to the Anuvavi Subramanya Swamy temple at Periya Thadagam and crossed the hill path leading to the Anuvavi Subramanya Swamy temple and entered the nearby forest area.



The people present took a video of it and posted it on social media. These scenes are currently going viral. According to the forest department, the elephants may have started coming out of the forest area in search of food and water as it was evening time and devotees were not allowed to walk through the hill path after 4 pm.

Due to this, no untoward incident has been avoided, the forest department said.
