Four Life Sentences Pronounced in Palladam Quadruple Murder Case

Four convicted in brutal murder of four individuals in Palladam, Tiruppur, for confronting locals drinking near their house on September 3, last year.


Coimbatore: A year after the gruesome night of September 3, the main session court in Tiruppur delivered the final judgment in the Palladam quadruple murder case. Senthilkumar, Mohanraj, Rathinammal, and Pushpavathi were slain near their residence in Kallakinaru village by intoxicated locals they had confronted.


In response, police apprehended Rajkumar, 27, Chellamuthu, 24, Sona Muthiah, 30, Ayyappan, 52, and Venkatesh, 29, under the provisions of the Goondas Act. During investigations, Venkatesh, nicknamed Kutty, tried to escape and was shot in the leg before being detained.






Judge Sornam Natarajan, after examining testimonies from 55 witnesses, sentenced the primary defendant, Rajkumar, to four concurrent life terms and a fine of Rs. 1000. Similarly, Chellamuthu, Sona Muthaiah, and Ayyappan each received four life terms and a Rs. 1000 fine. The fifth defendant, Venkatesh, who was found to have provided refuge to the killers, was sentenced to three years imprisonment and fined Rs. 2000.
