Coimbatore District Collector Urges Registration of Elderly Homes for Community Welfare

Coimbatore District Collector, Kranthi Kumar Pati, has requested all operating elderly homes to register under the District Social Welfare Office as per the Government Order No. 83 dated 23.11.2016.

Coimbatore: In an effort to streamline the operations of elderly care facilities in Coimbatore, District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati has made a significant call for action. He has urged all elderly homes, including senior citizen complexes, assisted living apartments, and palliative care homes, that are operational either under voluntary or commercial motives, to ensure they are registered with the District Social Welfare Office. This registration is mandated under the Senior Citizens' Protection Act of 2007, following the guidelines set by Government Order No. 83.

The registration aims to ensure that all facilities providing care to the elderly comply with legal and safety standards, thereby enhancing the quality of life and welfare for the senior residents. The unregistered facilities are advised to promptly submit their documents and registrations to avoid legal repercussions.

For further details or queries, the public and facility operators can contact the District Social Welfare Office at the phone number: 0422-2305126.
