Two Murder Accused Detained Under Goondas Act in Coimbatore

In Coimbatore's Kinathukkadavu, Essaki Maari Selvam and Pathalam were detained under the Goondas Act after allegedly murdering two men, as recommended by DSP Badhrinarayanan and ordered by District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati.

Coimbatore: Authorities have taken stringent action against two individuals, Essaki Maari Selvam, 21, and Pathalam, 19, by invoking the Goondas Act following their alleged involvement in a chilling double murder incident in Kinathukkadavu area. The accused are reputed to have murdered Manimaran, aged 32, and Sadam Hussein, 28, who also resided in the same locality. The cases against Selvam and Pathalam were registered by Kinathukkadavu police after their arrest.

Previously involved in criminal activities, the continuous threat they posed to public peace led to the recommendation of the Goondas Act by Coimbatore's Deputy Superintendent of Police, Badhrinarayanan. This recommendation was subsequently sanctioned by Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati. Based on this directive, the two accused were officially detained under the stringent Goondas Act on May 12 to prevent further breach of law and order.
