Tragic Drowning of Two School Boys in a Rainwater Pond Near Udumalai

Two schoolboys drowned in a rainwater pond near Udumalai, Tirupur district, after they went missing while playing. The incident occurred in Gudimangalam, causing widespread sorrow in the area.


Tirupur: In a heartbreaking incident, two schoolboys drowned in a rainwater pond near Udumalai, Tirupur district. The boys, identified as Mithun Raj (11), a fifth-grade student, and Vinod (12), a sixth-grade student, were reported missing two days ago after they failed to return home from playing. After the boys did not return, their anxious parents lodged a complaint at the Gudimangalam police station.



The police subsequently distributed photos of the missing children to various places and began an extensive search.



This morning, local residents near the farm pond in Gudimangalam reported seeing bodies floating in a nearby rainwater collection pond. The Fire and Rescue Department personnel who rushed to the site confirmed the deaths of the two boys, who have since been identified as the ones reported missing.

This tragic event has cast a shadow of mourning over the region, with the local community deeply affected. Police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
