Coimbatore: A tragic incident unfolded in Thippampatti village near Pollachi as heavy overnight rain led to the collapse of a wall, claiming the life of a young man and his pet dog. The victim, identified as Hariharasudhan, was sleeping in a room of his family home when the disaster struck.

Hariharasudhan, who worked in a private company, was the son of Anbazhagan, a resident of Anna Street in Thippampatti village. On the fateful night, Hariharasudhan was sleeping in a separate room with his beloved pet dog. As continuous heavy rain lashed Pollachi and surrounding areas, a nearby wall suddenly collapsed, burying both Hariharasudhan and his dog under the debris.

Immediately, Hariharasudhan's body was rushed to the Pollachi Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. The Gomangalam Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.

In response to this tragic event, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has announced a financial assistance of three lakh rupees for the bereaved family.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the village, highlighting the dangers posed by heavy rains and the importance of structural safety in residential areas. Local authorities are expected to conduct safety assessments of buildings in the area to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
