Tamil Nadu Congress to Protest Against Union Finance Minister, Demand Protection for MSMEs

Tamil Nadu Congress President K. Selvaperunthakai announces protest in Coimbatore on September 14, 2024, demanding protection for MSMEs and apology from Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) has announced a protest rally to be held in Coimbatore on Saturday, September 14, 2024. The demonstration, led by TNCC President K. Selvaperunthakai, will focus on two key demands: protection for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and an apology from Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

The protest is scheduled to take place at 3:00 PM near Gandhi Park in R.S. Puram, opposite Annapoorna Hotel. Selvaperunthakai stated that the rally aims to draw attention to the challenges faced by MSMEs and to urge the central government to implement measures for their protection and growth.

The TNCC leader emphasized the importance of MSMEs in the local and national economy, highlighting their role in job creation and economic development. The protest will also call for Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to apologize, though the specific reason for this demand was not elaborated in the announcement.

This demonstration comes amid growing concerns about the economic challenges faced by small and medium-sized businesses in Tamil Nadu and across India. The Congress party's move to organize this protest indicates its intent to position itself as an advocate for the MSME sector and to challenge the central government's economic policies.
