Admk MLA SP Velumani Gifts Land to Coimbatore's One Rupee Idli Paatti

SP Velumani, Admk MLA and AIADMK headquarters secretary, purchased and donated 2 cents of land to Kamalathal, the 90-year-old woman known for selling idlis for one rupee in Coimbatore.



Coimbatore: In a heartwarming gesture, Admk MLA and AIADMK headquarters secretary SP Velumani has gifted 2 cents of land to Kamalathal, popularly known as the "One Rupee Idli Paatti" (grandmother) in Coimbatore. The 90-year-old woman has been selling idlis for just one rupee for many years, earning widespread appreciation for her service.

Kamalathal, a resident of Vadivelampalayam in the Pooluvapatti area of Thondamuthur assembly constituency, has been running her modest idli business for decades. Her commitment to providing affordable food to the needy has touched many hearts across the region.



Recognizing her honesty and dedicated service, SP Velumani decided to purchase a plot of land near her house. The former minister registered the 2 cents of land in Kamalathal's name and personally handed over the property documents to her.

The generous act by the AIADMK leader has been widely praised, as it provides a sense of security and permanence to the elderly woman who has become a symbol of compassion and service in Coimbatore.
