Coimbatore District Collector Announces Rs. 1 Lakh Research Fellowship for Differently-Abled Students

Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati announces Chief Minister Research Fellowship of Rs. 1 lakh for differently-abled students pursuing full-time or part-time Ph.D. from 2024-2025. The scheme aims to expand educational support for persons with disabilities.


Coimbatore: District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati has announced a new initiative to support differently-abled students pursuing research studies. As per the announcement made on October 3, the Chief Minister Research Fellowship scheme will provide Rs. 1,00,000 to differently-abled students undertaking full-time or part-time Ph.D. programs starting from the academic year 2024-2025.

The fellowship aims to expand the existing educational support provided by the Department of Welfare for Persons with Disabilities. This initiative is set to benefit many aspiring researchers with disabilities in Coimbatore district.

Key guidelines for the fellowship include:

1. Eligibility is restricted to differently-abled students pursuing full-time or part-time Ph.D. programs.

2. There is no upper limit on the income criteria for applicants.

3. Candidates must be enrolled in a recognized educational institution in India for their research program.

4. The fellowship amount of Rs. 1 lakh will be disbursed in full upon submission of proof of the thesis viva date.

Applicants are required to submit various documents along with their application, including:

- Disability ID card

- Unique Disability ID (UDID)

- Copy of Aadhaar card

- Bank passbook copy

- Proof of enrollment in a full-time or part-time Ph.D. program from the respective university or educational institution

- Thesis viva date confirmation

- Nativity certificate proving Tamil Nadu origin

Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati has urged eligible differently-abled students to apply for this fellowship at the District Differently Abled Welfare Office located within the Coimbatore District Collectorate complex. Interested candidates should submit their applications along with the necessary certificates to avail the benefits of this scheme.
