Shocking Upset: MK Stalin Defeated in Kolathur by TVK’s VS Babu

In a major political upset in Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has lost the Kolathur Assembly constituency to TVK candidate V. S. Babu by a margin of 4,718 votes.

Chennai: The result from Kolathur, long considered a stronghold of Stalin and the DMK, has sent shockwaves across the state’s political landscape. Stalin, who had comfortably won the seat in previous elections, faced an unexpectedly tough challenge this time.

According to official figures, VS Babu secured a decisive lead right from the beginning and continued it into the final rounds of counting, maintaining a consistent edge that ultimately translated into a 4,718-vote victory. The swing in voter sentiment in Kolathur is being seen as significant, given the constituency’s political history and Stalin’s prominence.

Political analysts suggest voter fatigue, and the emergence of TVK as a competitive force may have contributed to the outcome. The defeat marks one of the most significant electoral setbacks for Stalin in his political career.

The DMK is yet to release an official statement on the loss, while celebrations have begun among TVK supporters following the unexpected victory.
