No Major Change in Passenger Fares at Coimbatore Airport Despite Aviation Fuel Price Hike

Despite rising aviation fuel prices due to Iran-Israel conflict, Coimbatore International Airport has maintained stable passenger fares. Airport sources attribute this to high flight frequency and 70-80 Percent ticket booking rates, with increased summer holiday traffic expected until end of May.

Coimbatore: Airport sources have confirmed that passenger fares at Coimbatore International Airport have remained largely unchanged despite the recent increase in aviation fuel prices.

Speaking about the current situation, airport sources stated that the domestic terminal at Coimbatore Airport operates 8 daily flights to Chennai, 6 flights to Bengaluru, 2 flights each to Delhi and Mumbai. Additionally, flight services are provided to various cities including Goa, Shirdi, Varanasi, Guwahati, and Navi Mumbai.

Despite the rise in international aviation fuel prices caused by the Iran-Israel conflict, passenger service charges at Coimbatore International Airport have not been significantly revised. Airport sources pointed out several key factors contributing to this stability. The primary reasons include the high number of flights operating from the airport and the consistent ticket booking rate ranging from 70 to 80 percent across these flights.

The summer vacation period has resulted in a noticeable increase in passenger traffic at the airport. Airport authorities expect this trend to continue until the end of May, maintaining the current fare structure throughout this period

The stable pricing comes as welcome news for travelers from Coimbatore and surrounding areas who rely on air connectivity for business and leisure travel. The airport's ability to maintain competitive fares despite global fuel price pressures demonstrates the strength of its operational efficiency and market demand.

Industry observers note that the high occupancy rates and frequency of flights provide airlines with the volume necessary to absorb fuel cost increases without passing the burden entirely to passengers. This balance has helped maintain Coimbatore as an attractive aviation hub in Tamil Nadu.
