Coimbatore: A massive old tree standing along Meckericker Road in RS Puram suddenly collapsed with its roots and fell on a moving goods vehicle, causing panic in the area.
The driver of the vehicle sustained severe injuries in the accident and is currently receiving intensive care treatment at Coimbatore Government Hospital.
Additionally, several cars and two-wheelers parked along the roadside were damaged as tree branches fell on them during the collapse.
Upon receiving information, RS Puram police and fire department personnel rushed to the spot and engaged in cutting and removing the fallen giant tree using saws, piece by piece.
