The DMK district secretaries’ meeting is currently underway at Anna Arivalayam in Chennai under the leadership of DMK president MK Stalin. Discussions are expected to focus on the party’s Assembly election defeat and its future strategy as the opposition.

The meeting of DMK district secretaries is currently being held at the Kalaignar Arangam inside Anna Arivalayam in Chennai under the leadership of DMK president M. K. Stalin.
All district secretaries from across Tamil Nadu are participating in the meeting, which began at 10.30 AM on Thursday.
In a statement issued earlier, DMK general secretary Durai Murugan had requested all district secretaries to attend the meeting without fail.
The meeting assumes significance as it comes in the aftermath of the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, in which the DMK lost power after securing only 59 seats. Several senior leaders, including MK Stalin and former ministers, also faced defeat in the elections.
According to party sources, key discussions in the ongoing meeting are expected to revolve around the reasons behind the electoral setback, the party’s next phase of political activities and strategies for functioning effectively as the opposition both inside the Assembly and among the public.
