Construction Worker Dies After Sudden Collapse at Building Site in Coimbatore

A 29-year-old construction worker named Santosh from Vellalur Housing Unit in Coimbatore collapsed and died while working at a building construction site near Karruprayar Temple in Potthanur's Green Park area. Police have registered a case and investigation is underway into this sudden death incident.


Coimbatore: A tragic incident occurred in Coimbatore when a young construction worker lost his life after suddenly collapsing while at work. Santosh, aged 29, a resident of Vellalur Housing Unit in Coimbatore, worked as a construction laborer to earn his livelihood.

On the morning of the incident, Santosh was engaged in construction work at a residential building located in the Green Park area near Karruprayar Temple in Potthanur. He was carrying out his routine duties when the unexpected tragedy struck.

Without any warning, Santosh suddenly collapsed and fell to the ground, losing consciousness. Fellow workers at the construction site were shocked to witness the sudden collapse of their colleague. They immediately rushed to his aid and lifted him from the spot.

The workers quickly arranged for an auto-rickshaw and transported the unconscious Santosh to a nearby private hospital for emergency medical attention. Upon arrival at the hospital, medical staff administered first aid treatment to the young worker in an attempt to stabilize his condition.

However, recognizing the severity of his condition, doctors decided that Santosh required advanced medical care. Arrangements were made to transfer him to another hospital via ambulance for further treatment. During the transfer process, a paramedic who examined Santosh discovered that he had already succumbed to his condition and passed away.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Potthanur police personnel reached the hospital and took custody of Santosh's body. Following standard procedure in cases of sudden death, the police sent the body to Coimbatore Government Hospital for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

The Potthanur police have registered a case regarding this incident and have launched an investigation to understand the circumstances that led to the young worker's sudden collapse and death. Authorities are examining whether workplace safety measures were properly followed at the construction site.

This sudden and tragic death has cast a pall of grief over the Green Park area and the local community. Residents and fellow workers have expressed their shock and sorrow over the untimely demise of the young construction worker who was simply trying to earn an honest living.
