Hoax Bomb Threat Email Sent Again to Coimbatore Collectorate

Following yet another bomb threat email sent to the Coimbatore District Collectorate, police conducted extensive searches using metal detectors and sniffer dogs. Cyber Crime Police have intensified investigations to trace the unidentified individual behind the 39th hoax threat email.

Coimbatore: A series of hoax bomb threat emails targeting government offices and other prominent public locations in Coimbatore continues to trigger anxiety among authorities and the public alike.

In recent months, similar threat emails have been sent to several important establishments, including the Coimbatore Passport Office, schools, shopping malls and court complexes. The Coimbatore District Collectorate has also repeatedly received such threatening emails.

While a similar threat was reported just two days ago, another bomb threat email was sent to the official email address of the Coimbatore Collectorate at around 7 a.m. on Tuesday.

Alarmed by the message, Collectorate staff immediately informed senior officials and the police. Subsequently, personnel from the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad rushed to the premises and carried out detailed inspections using metal detectors and sniffer dogs.

After thorough checks, the threat was once again confirmed to be a hoax, bringing relief to officials and employees at the Collectorate.

Meanwhile, Cyber Crime Police have stepped up efforts to identify the individual responsible for repeatedly sending the threatening emails. Police sources said the sender has been frequently changing email addresses and masking the origin of the messages to make them appear as though they were sent from different foreign countries.

Authorities are now employing advanced cyber forensic techniques to trace the suspect, while further investigation remains under way.
