Kovai Kutralam Falls closed for tourists due to heavy rains in Western Ghats

Kovai Kutralam Waterfalls in Coimbatore has been temporarily closed to visitors from June 6, 2026, following a sharp rise in water flow caused by heavy southwest monsoon rains in the Western Ghats.

Coimbatore: Kovai Kutralam, one of the major tourist attractions in Coimbatore, has been temporarilyclosed to visitors from today (06/06/2026) due to flooding, as officially announced by the Boluvampatti Forest Department authorities citing public safety concerns.

The Western Ghats region covering Coimbatore and its surrounding areas has been experiencing intense southwest monsoon rains over the past few days, with heavy downpours continuing relentlessly in the hill regions.

“Due to the heavy rainfall in the Western Ghats region causing flooding at Kovai Kutralam waterfalls, the eco-tourism site will be temporarily closed from 06/06/2026 for public safety," an announcement from the forest department stated.

Tourists from Coimbatore and neighboring districts who had planned weekend getaways to Kovai Kutralam on this Saturday have been left disappointed by this sudden announcement from the Forest Department. However, Forest officials have requested public cooperation in following safety protocols.
