To clear the extra rush of passengers, East Coast Railway has announced a one-way special train from Puri to Podanur on July 27, with halts at Salem, Erode and Tiruppur before reaching Podanur on July 29.
Coimbatore: In a bid to ease the extra rush of passengers, East Coast Railway has announced a one-way Express Special (Train on Demand) between Puri and Podanur, providing additional travel capacity for passengers heading towards western Tamil Nadu.
Train No. 08435 Puri–Podanur One-Way Express Special will depart from Puri at 10.45 p.m. on Monday (July 27) and complete its journey at Podanur at 8.45 a.m. on Wednesday (July 29). The special service has been introduced as a single-trip operation to cater to the anticipated increase in passenger demand.
To accommodate more travellers, the train will comprise eight Sleeper Class coaches, eleven General Second Class coaches and two Divyangjan-friendly Second Class coaches, offering additional seating and sleeper accommodation.
The special train will pass through several major stations, including Khurda Road, Brahmapur, Vijayawada, Perambur, Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode and Tiruppur, before terminating at Podanur.
For passengers boarding in western Tamil Nadu, the train is scheduled to arrive at Salem at 5.00 a.m., Erode at 6.05 a.m., Tiruppur at 7.00 a.m., and Podanur at 8.45 a.m. on July 29.
Railway officials have advised passengers travelling on this route to make use of the special service introduced to manage the additional travel demand.
