DMK workers staged a road blockade near Gandhi Statue complex in Valparai protesting Opposition Leader Udhayanidhi Stalin's arrest. Led by Youth Wing Secretary Makudeeshwaran, over 25 protesters including women were detained and lodged in a private hall. Buses were blocked causing traffic disruption and creating tense situation in the area.
Coimbatore: DMK workers staged a road blockade protest near Gandhi Statue complex in Valparai area of Coimbatore district condemning the arrest of Opposition Leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. Following this, over 25 people including women were arrested and detained in a private hall.
Udhayanidhi Stalin was arrested for allegedly making defamatory remarks against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay. Condemning this action, DMK Youth Wing Secretary Makudeeshwaran, Municipal Vice Chairman Senthilkumar, Councillor J P Bhaskar, Municipal Deputy Secretary Prabavathi and Saravana Pandian led party workers in staging a protest near Gandhi Statue complex in Valparai.
During the demonstration, buses and vehicles were blocked causing traffic disruptions. Valparai police immediately took action and arrested all those involved in the protest. The arrested persons were transported in private vehicles and lodged in a private hall.
Several DMK workers including Makudeeshwaran, Senthilkumar, Councillor Bhaskar, Prabavathi, Kathiresan and Chinnasamy participated in the event. The arrest of the Opposition Leader and action against party workers has created a tense atmosphere in Valparai area. Police security has been strengthened in the region.
