Karpagam University Concludes Thiruppugazh Training Workshop by Indian Knowledge System

Karpagam Deemed University in Coimbatore hosted the valedictory ceremony of a Thiruppugazh training workshop organized by the Indian Knowledge System. The one-day workshop saw participation from 110 students from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham School, Ettimadai. Vice-Chancellor Dr S Ravi and Chief Executive Officer K Murugaiah graced the event.


Coimbatore: The Music Department of the School of Performing Arts at Karpagam Deemed University successfully concluded the Thiruppugazh training workshop organized by the Indian Knowledge System on 07.08.2026. The valedictory ceremony was marked by enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members. Prof Dr Sajitha Suku, Head of the Music Department, delivered the welcome address at the ceremony.




Speaking at the event, T K Ramesh commended the initiative, stating that the Thiruppugazh workshop was a praiseworthy effort designed to benefit students immensely. K Murugaiah, Chief Executive Officer of Karpagam University, presided over the valedictory function and appreciated the department's commitment to cultural education.






Vice-Chancellor Dr S Ravi, in his felicitation address, expressed his appreciation for the Music Department of the School of Performing Arts, noting that such initiatives add significant value to Karpagam University's educational services. He emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting traditional art forms among the younger generation.




The one-day workshop was coordinated by a team of distinguished faculty members including Dr Praseeda Pal, Dr Sajitha Suku, Meera Priyadarshini, Sruthilaya R, Dr Indumathi J, and Dr Sandhya Shankar Jayaram under the leadership of Dr V Janagamaayadevi, Dean of the School of Performing Arts. Their collective expertise ensured a comprehensive learning experience for all participants.




A total of 110 students from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham School, Ettimadai, attended the workshop and benefited from the intensive training sessions. The highlight of the ceremony was a group rendition of Thiruppugazh by the students, which added a special touch to the event and showcased the practical application of their training.




Registrar Dr BV Pradeep, along with various deans, professors, and students, participated in the ceremony, making it a memorable occasion. The valedictory function concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Praseeda Pal, Professor in the Music Department, who expressed gratitude to all organizers, participants, and supporters of the workshop.
