Coimbatore: Water Resources Department officials have released details about the current water level status of Amaravathi and Thirumoorthy dams located in Tiruppur district.

The water level at Amaravathi Dam, which has a total storage capacity of 90 feet, has risen to 51.41 feet as of August 11, due to continuous inflow from its catchment areas. Officials from the Water Resources Department stated that the current inflow to the dam is 757 cubic feet per second.

Thirumoorthy Dam, situated near Udumalaipettai, has a storage capacity of 60 feet. As of August 11, the water level in this reservoir stands at 34.61 feet due to consistent inflow from catchment areas. Water Resources Department officials informed that 21 cubic feet of water is being released from the dam.

Farmers have expressed satisfaction as water levels in both dams are gradually increasing due to continuous rainfall. The steady rise in storage levels is expected to benefit agricultural activities in the region and ensure adequate water supply for irrigation purposes in the coming months.

Both reservoirs serve as critical water sources for Tiruppur district, supporting irrigation needs and drinking water requirements. The positive trend in water storage has brought relief to the farming community who depend on these reservoirs for their agricultural operations.
