Southern Railway’s Salem Division has announced two special trains—Mysuru–Kannur on August 29 and Kannur–Bengaluru Cantonment on August 30—with halts at Podanur in Coimbatore, along with Erode, Tiruppur and other key stations.
Coimbatore: To cater to the increasing number of passengers, the Southern Railway’s Salem Division has announced two special train services between Mysuru and Kannur and Kannur and Bengaluru Cantonment. Both trains will halt at Podanur in Coimbatore, besides key stations including Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Thalassery.
Mysuru–Kannur Special Train
Train No. 06229 Mysuru–Kannur Special will depart from Mysuru at 11.55 pm on August 29, 2026, and reach Kannur at 5.50 pm the following day.
The train will halt at Mandya and KSR Bengaluru, in addition to Krishnarajapuram, Bangarapet, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Podanur, Palakkad, Shoranur, Tirur, Kozhikode, Vadakara and Thalassery.
On August 30, the train will arrive at Salem at 6.27 am and depart at 6.30 am, reach Erode at 7.30 am and depart at 7.40 am, reach Tiruppur at 8.20 am and depart at 8.25 am, and reach Podanur at 10.18 am before departing at 10.20 am.
Kannur–Bengaluru Cantonment Special Train
Train No. 06230 Kannur–Bengaluru Cantonment Special will depart from Kannur at 7.45 pm on August 30, 2026, and reach Bengaluru Cantonment at 10 am the following day.
On August 31, the train will arrive at Podanur at 1.20 am and depart at 1.22 am, reach Tiruppur at 2 am and depart at 2.05 am, arrive at Erode at 3.05 am and depart at 3.15 am, and reach Salem at 4.02 am before departing at 4.05 am.
Both special trains will comprise AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, Sleeper Class and General Second Class coaches, along with a Luggage-cum-Brake Van with accommodation for differently abled passengers.
Mysuru–Kannur Special Train
Train No. 06229 Mysuru–Kannur Special will depart from Mysuru at 11.55 pm on August 29, 2026, and reach Kannur at 5.50 pm the following day.
The train will halt at Mandya and KSR Bengaluru, in addition to Krishnarajapuram, Bangarapet, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Podanur, Palakkad, Shoranur, Tirur, Kozhikode, Vadakara and Thalassery.

On August 31, the train will arrive at Podanur at 1.20 am and depart at 1.22 am, reach Tiruppur at 2 am and depart at 2.05 am, arrive at Erode at 3.05 am and depart at 3.15 am, and reach Salem at 4.02 am before departing at 4.05 am.
