Coimbatore City Police arrested four people in separate operations across Coimbatore for allegedly selling liquor without authorisation and at higher prices. The searches in R.S. Puram, Vadavalli, Thudiyalur and Ganapathy resulted in the seizure of 75 liquor bottles, with police registering cases against all four accused.

Coimbatore: Based on a tip-off about illegal liquor sales, R.S. Puram police conducted a search near the Corporation Park on Netaji Road in S.N. Palayam and allegedly found Ganesh (40), a resident of Bharathiyar Street, selling liquor at higher prices. Police seized 13 bottles of beer, brandy and rum, totalling 5.160 litres, and arrested him.

In another incident, a patrol team led by Sub-Inspector Irulappan conducted checks near M.T.S. Bakery at the Vadavalli Roundana. Police allegedly found Lawrence (47), from Dindigul district, in possession of liquor bottles intended for sale at higher prices. Ten bottles of Jet Brandy and Old Cask Brandy, totalling 1.8 litres, were seized and a case was registered against him.

Meanwhile, the Coimbatore City Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW) conducted a search in Thudiyalur and allegedly caught Kandan (45), a native of Avudayarkoil in Pudukkottai district, while selling liquor. The PEW team apprehended him near a public toilet and seized 26 Black Pearl brandy bottles.

Similarly, Mani (48) of Ganapathy was allegedly found selling 26 Express brandy bottles at a vacant site near Ananda Bakery in Ganapathy.

Police seized a total of 52 liquor bottles worth ₹6,289 from Kandan and Mani and remanded both to judicial custody.
