Two Bikes, Same Number Plate Case: Coimbatore Police Impose ₹7,900 Fine

Coimbatore traffic police have taken action against two men after a social media video showed two motorcycles being operated with the same registration number in Kavundampalayam. The motorcycles were seized and fines totalling ₹7,900 were imposed for violations.

Traffic police have taken action against two men after a video showing two motorcycles carrying the same registration number surfaced on social media from the Kavundampalayam area in Coimbatore.

Following the information, Traffic Police Deputy Commissioner Maheswaran conducted an inquiry and traced the two motorcycles. Ashwin, from Kancheepuram, and his friend Sibi were subsequently identified in connection with the violation.

According to the police, Sibi had allegedly copied the registration number displayed on Ashwin’s motorcycle and used the same number on his own motorcycle. Both vehicles were seized as part of the action.

Police imposed a total fine of ₹7,200 for various violations linked to the motorcycles. In addition, Ashwin was fined ₹700 for violations including riding a motorcycle without insurance, taking the total penalties to ₹7,900.

Traffic police said vehicles involved in similar registration and other traffic violations would continue to be monitored and action would be taken against those found violating the rules.
