Passenger Alert: Mangalore–Chennai Egmore Weekly Special Trains Extended Till October

Southern Railway has extended the operation of the weekly special trains between Mangalore Central and Chennai Egmore until October 2026, with the services continuing to operate via Podanur, Tiruppur, Erode and Salem.

Southern Railway has extended the operation of weekly special train services between Mangalore Central and Chennai Egmore until the end of October to cater to passenger demand.

The services will continue to operate via Podanur, Tiruppur, Erode and Salem, providing additional connectivity between the western and northern parts of Tamil Nadu and destinations in Kerala and Karnataka.

Train No. 06126, the Mangalore Central–Chennai Egmore Special, will leave Mangalore Central at 4 p.m. every Monday from September 7 to October 26, operating eight services during the extended period. The train is scheduled to reach Chennai Egmore at 10.55 a.m. the following day.

In the return direction, Train No. 06125, the Chennai Egmore–Mangalore Central Special, will leave Chennai Egmore at 2 p.m. every Tuesday from September 8 to October 27. The service will also operate for eight trips and is scheduled to reach Mangalore Central at 8.40 a.m. the following day.

The trains will halt at several stations, including Podanur, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem and Jolarpettai. The Mangalore Central–Chennai Egmore service will also have a stop at Perambur.

According to the revised schedule, the Mangalore Central–Chennai Egmore Special will reach Podanur at 12.18 a.m., Tiruppur at 1.28 a.m., Erode at 2.10 a.m., Salem at 3.17 a.m. and Jolarpettai at 5.20 a.m.

On its return journey, the Chennai Egmore–Mangalore Central Special will reach Jolarpettai at 6.05 p.m., Salem at 7.37 p.m., Erode at 8.35 p.m., Tiruppur at 9.28 p.m. and Podanur at 10.43 p.m.

The special trains will comprise AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, Sleeper Class and General Second Class coaches, besides a luggage-cum-brake van with accommodation for differently abled passengers.
