A 28-year-old Nepalese national working at an e-commerce warehouse in Pappampatti was allegedly beaten to death by a co-worker. The Sulur police have arrested a man from Jharkhand in connection with the case, while the main accused is absconding.

A 28-year-old Nepalese national working at an e-commerce warehouse in Coimbatore was allegedly beaten to death with a brick following a dispute with a co-worker over remarks about his appearance. The Sulur police have arrested a man from Jharkhand in connection with the case, while the main accused is absconding.

The deceased was identified as Rameshwar Sah (28), a native of Mahottari district in Nepal.

Police said Sah’s body was found with severe head injuries at a vacant brick shed on a private property at Nandini Nagar in Pappampatti. Following information from the public, the Sulur police recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination.

A case was registered at the Sulur police station under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and an investigation was launched.

During the investigation, police found that Sah had been working at an e-commerce company’s warehouse in the Pappampatti area. Inquiries with his co-workers allegedly revealed that Jagadeesh, a colleague, had reportedly made remarks about Sah’s physical appearance, leading to differences between the two.

According to the police, Sah had allegedly consumed alcohol on the night of September 5. Jagadeesh and his friend, Mathayas Malto, allegedly took him towards his place of stay.

Police said another argument allegedly broke out near the brick shed over the earlier remarks. During the altercation, Jagadeesh allegedly picked up a brick and repeatedly attacked Sah on the head, resulting in his death at the spot.

Mathayas Malto, who police said was allegedly involved in the incident, was subsequently arrested. He is a native of Pakur district in Jharkhand.

The police said Jagadeesh, the main accused in the case, was absconding. A special team has been formed to trace and arrest him, and further investigation is under way.
