Water Levels Rise in Aliyar, Parambikulam and Sholayar Dams

Water levels in three Coimbatore-region dams rose on September 17 due to continuous rainfall in their catchment areas, water resources department officials said. Aliyar dam near Anaimalai, with a capacity of 120 feet, stood at 65.45 feet, receiving inflow of 298 cusecs and releasing 450 cusecs. Parambikulam dam near Pollachi, with a capacity of 72 feet, rose to 53.4 feet, with inflow of 1112 cusecs and outflow of 426 cusecs. Sholaiyar dam in Valparai, with a capacity of 160 feet, reached 76.38 feet, recording inflow of 352 cusecs and outflow of 927 cusecs.


Coimbatore: Water levels in three major dams in the Coimbatore region have risen following continuous rainfall in their catchment areas due to the southwest monsoon, water resources department officials said.

The Aliyar dam near Anaimalai, which has a capacity of 120 feet, recorded a water level of 65.45 feet as of September 17, following inflow from rain in its catchment areas. The inflow into the dam stood at 298 cusecs per second, while 450 cusecs of water is being released from the dam.

The Parambikulam dam near Pollachi, with a capacity of 72 feet, saw its water level rise to 53.4 feet as of September 17, due to continuous inflow from its catchment areas amid the southwest monsoon rains. The inflow into this dam was recorded at 1112 cusecs per second, with 426 cusecs of water being released from the dam.

The Sholaiyar dam in Valparai, which has a capacity of 160 feet, reached a water level of 76.38 feet as of September 17, following rainfall in its catchment areas. The inflow into the dam stood at 352 cusecs per second, while 927 cusecs of water is being released from the dam, water resources department officials said.
