Coimbatore City Police’s narcotics detection dog Madhana and explosives detection dog Malar, along with their respective handlers, secured second prizes in the Dog Events category at the State Police Duty Meet 2026 held at the TSP Regimental Centre in Avadi from September 21 to 25.
Coimbatore City Police have secured recognition at the State Police Duty Meet 2026, with two sniffer dogs and their handlers winning second prizes in the narcotics and explosives detection categories.
The state-level police competition, organised in accordance with the directions of the Director General of Police and Head of Police Force, Tamil Nadu, was held from September 21 to 25 at the TSP Regimental Centre in Avadi, Chennai, under the Dog Events category.
In the narcotics detection dog event, Madhana, a sniffer dog attached to the Coimbatore City Police, and her handler, Head Constable No. 2471 M. Ashokkumar, secured second prize.
Similarly, Malar, an explosives detection dog, along with her handler, Head Constable No. 2464 P. Senthilkumar, won second prize in the explosives detection category.
The achievements brought recognition to the Coimbatore City Police at the state-level competition, which featured specialised police dog events involving narcotics and explosives detection.
Coimbatore City Police Commissioner (in-charge) and West Zone Police Head R.V. Ramya Bharathi, IPS, congratulated the police personnel and their canine partners for their achievements and extended her best wishes.
