Poll observer arrives in Tirupur

R. K. Jain, who is appointed by the Election Commission as Observer, arrived here on Friday evening to take stock of the campaigns conducted across Tirupur district to ensure 100 per cent polling.

Evaluation

Official sources said that Mr. Jain, who is Director (News Service Division) of All India Radio, would evaluate the propaganda carried out in the district and the steps taken to enrol people in the voters’ list.

Since the election dates were announced, the district election officials had, so far, carried out mobile campaigns, street plays and opening of voter facilitation centres to ensure 100 per cent voter turnout.

Apart from this, intensive door-to-door campaigns were carried out in areas covered by 233 polling stations, out of the total 2,324 polling booths in the district, that had low turnout in 2011 Assembly and 2014 Lok Sabha polls. Mr. Jain would be in Tirupur till Monday and will then proceed to Erode district.
