Collector addresses on Public Sanitation issues at rural areas around the City.


Rural Development Sector's meet was convened today at the Collectorate to discuss on the issues on public sanitation and hygiene. 

Coimbatore district comprises of 228 Panchayats functioning under 12 Panchayat Unions. He revealed that in most of the rural areas people still use open places for defecation which leads to spreading of epidemics and diseases. 

He recalled on the importance of Swachh Bharat Scheme and our responsibility of keeping the city and it's surrounding clean. 

He assured that by March 2017, all the villages around the city will be installed with proper toilet facilities to improve the sanitation standards. 

The plan is to appoint volunteers and impart them with special training on public sanitation, the special training was started today in the meeting and will continue till August 20th, he stated. 

 

Michael Antony Bernard, Project Director of  District Rural Development Agency briefed the gathering regarding this scheme. Other government officials from other departments were also present during the meeting.
