Trouble-makers on board train remanded

Government Railway Police personnel at Tirupur detrained nine persons on charges of creating nuisance on board the Chennai Central – Mangalore Express on Friday. They were produced before the Judicial Magistrate V – Coimbatore who remanded seven passengers and released two on bail.

Following complaints from passengers, travelling ticket examiners (TTEs) D. Rajasekaran, Rajeswar Meena, Carl Maxand Pradeepkumar reached Coach S11 and intervened with the trouble-makers. The group was in an inebriated condition and tried to attack fellow passengers and TTEs. The TTEs alerted the RPF/GRP staff in Tirupur Railway Station. A written complaint was lodged at Tirupur. Railway Police registered a case against Prem, Gopinath, Prithviraj and six others. They were produced before the Judicial Magistsrate-V, Coimbatore, who ordered for release of two commuters Balasubramaniyam (46) and Prabakaran (39) on bail and remanded the remaining to judicial custody at Coimbatore Central Prison for a period of 15 days.

Railway officials said that in the event of any such happenings on trains, help could be sought from Security Helpline No. 182 for immediate assistance.
