Health department staff strike enters Day 4

Ludhiana: The pen down strike at civil surgeon office by clerical staff of the health department ended fourth day on Friday.

Employees under the banner of Punjab Health Department Subordinate Clerical Association have been demanding promotions in the department.

The strike hit work of issuance of birth and handicap certificates.

"The government should meet their demands as the strike directly affects the common people. Now I have to wait for another week to get my health certificate," said a resident of Civil Lines.

"We are fed up of fake promises of the government on promotions. The government of Punjab is least bothered about our work and dedication. If the government doesn't cater to our demands, it will face the consequences in the coming elections," said Sukhwinder Singh of the association.
