TPDK intensifies their protest spree over Cauvery issue

Since the Cauvery issue, a series of protests has been showcased by the Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (TPDK) voicing their firm support to mount justice in the Cauvery issue and strongly condemning the atrocities staged by the fringe elements in Karnataka on people of Tamil community.

Today, it was at the State Bank of Mysore, 100 feet Road., where the activists of TPDK demonstrated their agitation against the Karnataka government on the heated Cauvery issue.

V. Aruchamy, Secretary, TPDK, stated that 'Karnataka has built four dams across Cauvery river at Kabini, Harangi., which holds a water capacity of 532 TMC water and these dams have been built without procuring proper permissions. Even after the Supreme Court's order they are hesitant to release the water and the violence portrayed by the Karnataka people against Tamil people and their properties is highly condemnable. Even yesterday, a driver was assaulted brutally by the rioters in Karnataka. If the situation is not contained, we would intensify our protests by boycotting all Karnataka organisations, functioning in Tamilnadu' he said.

The police arrested 30 protestors of TPDK, as they tried to burn effigies of Karnataka government.
