'VER' foundation organised bike rally over Cauvery issue

'VER', a city-based NGO had organised a bike rally condemning the violence staged against the Tamils and their properties in Karnataka and to seek peace & solidarity in the water-sharing issues. Today morning, the rally started at the Codissia grounds and routed through Thaneer Pandhal, Cheran Nagar. After covering 5 km of ride the riders re-assembled in the codissia grounds. Close to 300 bikes and 609 volunteers, mostly students from Coimbatore, Erode, Tiruppur and Salem participated in the awareness rally.

Vasanth, Organizer of the event in an exclusive interview to SimpliCity stated that 'Violence can never be a solution for any problem. The atrocities that were staged in this Cauvery-issue is against the peace and solidarity of the Nation. As proposed by many, all the rivers of this nation should be linked together to annihilate such water-sharing disputes and secure the livelihood of the farmers. Our organisation was started last year,  in May 2015 by a group of students. Presently, around 2 lakh people have been following and supporting us on our social media page. Unlike other organisations and political outfits, we have organised this rally in a way focussing on the long-term solution for the issue and highlighting the need for solidarity, amongst the people'.
