Expectant mothers relish 'Baby Shower' function by Tamilnadu government

A baby shower function for expectant mothers, who are economically-deprived was conducted by the Tamil Nadu Government at the Poomarket Sidhi Vinayakar Temple in Coimbatore. SP Velumani, Minister for Town Management, Rural Development and Special Scheme implementations and District Collector, T.N. Hariharan, presided over the function and distributed gift hampers to all the expectant mothers.

While addressing the press, Minister SP Velumani stated that “Tamilnadu Chief Minister Dr.J. Jayalalitha has been continually implementing needy schemes for the welfare of the women. The recent announcement of extension of maternity leave to 9 months with salary and allowances has been widely appreciated and welcomed by the people of TN, especially women. In order to make the women of economically-deprived community feel happy and rejuvenated during their pregnancy period, our CM has announced to conduct baby shower function for all the expectant mothers. The economical situations should not affect their happiness, which is very important during this phase, hence the CM has announced this function across Tamil Nadu'. 

He also wished the expectant mothers for safe and happy motherhood. Following the function, the Minister participated in similar events held at Selvapuram and Kuniyamuthur areas. The expectant mothers who participated in the event, cherished the moment and felt very emotional and thanked the Chief Minister for her humanitarian act and compassion towards them.

Child development officer Mrs. Jayanthi, Corporation Education Group, Chief Mrs. Santhamani Raju, Corporation Members Mrs. Manimekalai, Mrs. Gomathi, Child Development officers, Mrs. Valarmathi, Mrs. A. Rupa and Mrs. Padmavathi participated in the event.
