'Natyanjali' a festival of dance begins soulfully at Perur Patteswarar Temple


'Natyanjali' an annual dance fest organized by Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis and Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department was kick-started today at Perur Patteswarar Temple, Perur. Special poojas and classical dance performance at the 'Natarajar Sannidhi' was performed. Rotary club of Coimbatore Metropolis has been organizing this event for the past 20 years.The 3-day event aims at promoting' Art and Culture' through dance performances by renowned artists from various parts of the Nation. 





Natyanjali is a festival of Dance, where the artists dedicate their "Natya" (Dance) as "Anjali" (Offering) and worship to the Lord of Dance - Lord Nataraja.



Smt . Bimbavati Devi who will be performing today is a pioneer in Manipuri Dance and recipient of several acclaimed awards shared with SimpliCity that, 'she has been into dancing from a very young age and feels very passionate towards the art. 



'I've visited many places in India and abroad but Coimbatore shares a special place in my heart because of the pleasant weather and lovely people ' she said. Her team artists, Arpita Shah,Tanushri Das, Biplab Ghosh, Kankana Singh and Bibavati and herself is about to present the audience with some soulful performances like Shivavandana, Mahashakthi etc., dedicated to 'Patteswarar' the main deity in Perur.

'My association with Natyanjali starts from my childhood, it was a great honour as I got a chance to perform in the 1st Natyanjali event in Coimbatore. It's a privilege to perform here and indeed a bliss and a boundless feeling to perform soulfully before' Natarajar Sanidhi' said Lavanya Shankar of Abhaysa Academy of Classical Dance. She and her team is all set to deliver their performance in the theme 'Trilokajanani' which is about the three deities Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswathi. 









Odissi Dance by Priyanka Jain from Mumbai, Bharathanatyam Group presentation on theme 'Trilokajanani' by Abhayasa Academy of Classical Dance, Coimbatore, Manipuri Classical Dance by Bimbavati Devi and team from Kolkatta, Bharathanatya duo performance by a artist team from Bangalore, Kuchipudi Dance Drama by Deepanjali Dance School Hyderabad, Bharathanatyam by Bhakti Natya Niketan from Coimbatore, Bharathanatya Group presentation by Parshwanath Upadhye & team from Bengaluru and Odissi Nrutya Mala by Lasyakala Dance Vision Bhubaneshwar will be showcased during this 3-day event.

The dance performances will be commence from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm from 23rd to 25th September. Sure, some splendid performances awaits the audience.
