Revolutionary Students Federation stands strong against the new education policy

Members of the Revolutionary Students Federation staged a protest at the South Taluk Office condemning against the proposed draft of the 'New Education Policy' proposed by the Ministry of Human Resource Management.

Jagan, District Secretary of Revolutionary Students Federation stated that, 'The proposed new education policy is trying to enforce Sanskrit as a medium of education from School to Research level. It also paves away for corporatising education. Only close to 11,000 people converse in Sanskrit, enforcing is as a mandatory language is unacceptable, which will eventually push Tamil as a third language. We do not want Sanskrit, education in our our mother language Tamil is what we want' he said.

The students held placards and raised intense slogans against making Sanskrit mandatory and denying Tamil. The police arrested the protestors and cleared the situation.
