Ooty Municipality sanctions Rs. 5.20 crore to repair roads

The Udhagamandalam Municipality has sanctioned Rs. 5.20 crore to carryout road repair works, Municipal Chairperson J. Sathyabama has said.

Sharing the details at the start of road relaying works on Wednesday she said that for long residents have been complaining of the poor condition of Hospital Road, Upper Bazaar Road, Kandhal, Vivekanandar Nagar Road and a few others.

The roads were so full of potholes that they had turned unmotorable. Road users often met with accidents. To repair the roads, the civic body has sanctioned the money so that the town had good roads ahead of the Summer tourist season, she said.

Udhagamandalam MLA Buddhi Chandran launched the works in the presence of Commissioner A. Sardar and Municipal Engineer Rooben Suresh. Mr. Suresh said that the civic body had asked the contractors to complete the work within three months.
