Amma cement helps poor people build their dream home!.


AIADMK government has developed many schemes for the benefit of the poor section of the society. One of the schemes is Amma Cement which aimed to provide cement to the poor people for the construction of their dream homes. This scheme was introduced to help the people who are not able to afford the high costs of cement that is available in the market which is manufactured by the private companies. 

Under the scheme 750 bags of Amma cement will provided for the construction of homes with area less than 1500 square feet, area between 501-1000 will be given 500 bags, 1001-1500 ranging homes will be given 750 bags.  For all renovation purposes, 10 to 100 bags would be given to the beneficiaries at subsidised rates. 

People who want to purchase Amma cement can submit the applications with the building plan of the proposed home to any one of the following officers. VAO, Revenue inspector, Rural and Town development superintendent, or Road inspector of rural and town development department.

The duly filled applications should be sent along with the DD of any nationalised banks for the cost of the required cement bags in name of TANCEM LTD-AMMA CEMENT SUPPLY SCHEME. The Cost of one cement will be Rs. 190. So far 653331 cement bags have been distributed under the scheme which is worth Rs. 12.41 crores.



Mallika a beneficiary from Seeranaickenpalayam said, “This scheme is very helpful for poor people like us. We are constructing a house with an area of 900 sqft. We require about 400 cement bags for construction of the home. The cost of the cement bag in the market is Rs.380. The cost for 400 cement bags will be Rs. 1,52,000. Tamilnadu government's subsidised cement will cost only RS.76000. This will benefit poor families like us.”

Murugesan and Muthupandi from Madukkarai who were also benefited from the scheme said that the subsidised Amma cement scheme was very helpful for them to construct their dream homes.
