OPS visits his mom at city hospital, shuns media

Former chief minister O Panneerselvam, now the state finance minister, visited his ailing mother Palaniammal, 86, at Gem Hospital and Research Centre here for the second consecutive day on Tuesday. Panneerselvam, however, avoided reporters gathered there who sought to know whether he was being sidelined by the party.

Palaniammal was diagnosed with stone in the gall bladder a few weeks back and Panneerselvam had admitted her at the Gem Hospital at Ramanathapuram here a couple of days ago. However, when he landed at Coimbatore International Airport with her mother, no AIADMK party functionary was there to accord him welcome. Even party local leaders did not pay any courtesy visit to the hospital.
