Coimbatore: A video showing a group of youths performing dangerous stunts and reckless riding on a two-wheeler along the Saravanampatti–Kovilpalayam Road in Coimbatore recently went viral on social media, drawing sharp criticism from the public.
Acting on the viral footage, Coimbatore City Police traced the youths using the vehicle registration number and launched an inquiry into the incident.
During the investigation, police found that the youths had ridden the vehicle without wearing helmets, operated the two-wheeler without possessing a valid driving licence, and drove recklessly in a manner that posed a serious threat to public safety.
Following the inquiry, police imposed a total fine of ₹19,500 on the four youths for multiple traffic violations.
Police officials also warned and counselled the youths against engaging in dangerous bike stunts and reckless riding on public roads, especially during night hours, stating that such acts endanger both the riders and other road users.
