In a horrific accident, 33-year-old Balamurugan died after falling from his bike and being run over by a bus near Prozone Mall on Sathy Road in Coimbatore. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
Coimbatore: A 33-year-old motorcyclist died after falling from his bike and being run over by a bus near Prozone Mall on Sathy Road in Coimbatore.
The deceased was identified as Balamurugan, a resident of Marudhur Perumal Temple Street in Ramanathapuram. He is survived by his wife, Divya, 29.
According to police, Balamurugan was riding his motorcycle northwards along Sathy Road on Saturday. When he reached a shop opposite Prozone Mall, his bike reportedly skidded, causing him to fall onto the road.
A bus travelling in the same direction allegedly ran over his head with its right rear wheel. Balamurugan sustained fatal head injuries and died at the scene. He also suffered severe abrasions around his hip.
On receiving information, personnel from the East Traffic Investigation Wing rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Coimbatore Government Hospital for postmortem examination.
Based on a complaint filed by his wife, Divya, the East Traffic Investigation Wing police registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident.
