Kovai Kutralam Closed Temporarily Following Flash Floods

Coimbatore: The Kovai Kutralam eco-tourism centre has been temporarily closed following a flash flood triggered by heavy rainfall in the Western Ghats.
The closure took effect on Thursday, November 5, 2026, after water levels at the waterfall, located in the Sadivayal area, rose sharply due to continuous rain in its catchment areas. The surge in inflow created a heavy and potentially dangerous flow of water, prompting the Forest Department to restrict public access as a precautionary measure.
In a statement, the Coimbatore Forest Division announced that the eco-tourism centre would remain closed on Thursday in view of the flooding and to ensure visitor safety.
The Forest Department has advised tourists and the public to avoid visiting Kovai Kutralam until the rainfall subsides and water flow returns to normal. Visitors will be allowed again only after the situation improves, officials said.
