Woman murdered in Coimbatore, robbed of 5 sovereigns of jewellery by unidentified assailants

A woman was killed when she was alone at home in Balaji Nagar near Cheranmanagar in Coimbatore. Miscreants robbed her of about 5 sovereigns of gold ornaments from her neck.


Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, a woman was murdered at her house in Cheranmanagar area of Coimbatore and five sovereigns of jewellery was robbed by unidentified miscreants.

Chakravarthy hails from Balaji Nagar near Cheranmanagar near Coimbatore. He lived with his wife Jagadeeswari and daughter studying in Class 12.

Chakravarthy, a painting contractor, had gone to Annur for work. Her daughter, who is studying in Class 12, has also gone to school. It is said that mother Jagadeeswari, who comes to pick up her daughter as usual, did not turn up.

After school, Jagadeeswari's daughter waited for her mother from 4.30 am to 5.30 pm and came home on foot from school at 6.30 pm as her mother did not turn up.



The girl, who went inside the house and was shocked to find her mother lying dead on the bed and did not know what to do, informed her father Chakravarthy, who had gone to Work in Annur.

Police rushed to the spot and recovered the body of Jagadeeswari and sent it to coimbatore government hospital for post-mortem.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Jagadeeswari was strangled to death by unidentified persons, while the four-sovereign chain she was wearing around jagadeeswari's neck and a sovereign dhoti in her ear were stolen.

Did the miscreants kill Jagadeeswari for gold jewellery? The police are investigating the spot from various angles as to whether it was due to something else or something else. They are also examining CCTV cameras nearby.
