Karpagam University Student Wins Gold at 6th Khelo India Youth Games

The volleyball competition, which took place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai from January 19 to 31, witnessed a remarkable performance by Coimbatore's A. Athul Naik, a first-year BBA student.


Coimbatore: The 6th Khelo India Youth National Sports Competition, a prestigious sporting event organized by the Indian Sports Development Authority and the Central Department of Youth Sports, was held across four districts in Tamil Nadu. The volleyball competition, which took place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai from January 19 to 31, witnessed a remarkable performance by Coimbatore's Karpagam University student A. Athul Naik, a first-year BBA student.

He was selected for the Tamil Nadu volleyball team and participated in the Khelo India Youth Games. In the semifinals, the team battled and defeated the Andhra team, advancing to the finals where they triumphed over a strong Haryana team with a score of 3-1 sets.

This victory led to Athul Naik securing the gold medal. The accomplishment was lauded by the Vice-Chancellor of Karpagam University, Dr. Venkatajalapathi, Registrar Dr. Ravi, Director of Physical Education Sudhakar, and coach Rajesh.
