Coimbatore: The 219th death anniversary of Pollan, a prominent figure in India's freedom struggle and the army commander of Dheeran Chinnamalai, was observed today in Coimbatore. To mark this occasion, DMK officials gathered at the party office in Sulur to pay their respects.

The commemoration ceremony was led by Thalapathi Murugesan, the DMK Coimbatore South District Secretary. Along with other DMK administrators, including general committee member Ragu, they offered floral tributes to a portrait of Pollan.

Pollan's role in the Indian independence movement, particularly his service as the army commander for Dheeran Chinnamalai, is remembered as a significant contribution to the nation's fight for freedom. This annual observance serves to honor his memory and keep alive the spirit of patriotism among the current generation.

The event at the DMK office in Sulur demonstrated the party's commitment to remembering and honoring local historical figures who played crucial roles in India's struggle for independence. Such commemorations also serve as a reminder of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and their supporters during the colonial era.
