Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran Inaugurates Special Medical Camp Under 'Kalaignar's Varumun Kappom' Scheme

Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS inaugurated a special medical camp under the "Kalaignar's Varumun Kappom" scheme at Okkiliar Colony Municipal Higher Secondary School on September 28, 2024. The event also featured a community baby shower for 40 pregnant women.



Coimbatore: Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS inaugurated a special medical camp under the "Kalaignar's Varumun Kappom" scheme at the Okkiliar Colony Municipal Higher Secondary School in Ward 80 of the Central Zone on Saturday (September 28, 2024).



The event, held in the presence of Deputy Mayor R. Vetri Selvan, also featured a community baby shower for 40 pregnant women, where the Commissioner distributed gift packages.



The medical camp, organized as per the guidance of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, aimed to benefit the public through various health initiatives. It offered a wide range of medical services including diabetes and hypertension screening, surgical consultations, orthopedic care, maternal and women's health services, dental care, eye examinations, cervical cancer screening, pediatric care, ENT services, dermatology, Siddha, Ayurveda, and naturopathy treatments. Additionally, ECG scans, blood, phlegm, and urine tests were conducted.

Commissioner Prabhakaran highlighted that immediate treatments would be provided to those in need under the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme. He urged the public to make the best use of the camp and its services.



Prior to the inauguration, Public Health Committee Chairman P. Mariselvan sponsored a community baby shower for about 40 pregnant women. The Commissioner distributed gift packages including sarees, jackets, bangles, fruits, and nutritional kits to the expectant mothers.





The event also saw the Commissioner presenting appreciation certificates to doctors, nurses, and others who had performed exceptionally under the "Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam" (Healthcare at Doorstep) scheme. He also inspected the exhibition stalls set up by the Public Health Department, Disease Prevention Department, and Integrated Child Development Scheme.



The function was attended by Public Health Committee Chairman Mariselvan, City Health Officer Dr. Boopathi, Zonal Health Officer Gunasekaran, Zonal Medical Officer Dr. Dinesh Periyasamy, health officials, medical staff, and corporation officials.
