Four arrested for gambling in Coimbatore's Chinnavedampatti

Saravanampatti police conducted a raid on September 29 in Chinnavedampatti, arresting four individuals engaged in illegal gambling. Cash and vehicles were seized during the operation.



Coimbatore: The Saravanampatti police arrested four individuals for illegal gambling in Chinnavedampatti area of Coimbatore on September 29. The arrests were made following a tip-off about gambling activities taking place in a house in the locality.

Acting on the information, the police conducted a raid on the specified house. During the operation, they caught four men red-handed engaged in a card game. The arrested individuals were identified as Senthil Kumar (41) from Thoppampatti, Satish Kumar (43) from Kannappa Nagar in Rathinapuri, and Thanaraa (32) and Sathyamoorthy (27), both from Chinnavedampatti.

The police seized Rs. 3,48,000 in cash from the gambling site. Additionally, they confiscated a car, a motorcycle, and mobile phones from the accused. The seized items are believed to be either gambling stakes or proceeds from the illegal activity.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of the Coimbatore police to curb illegal gambling activities in the city. Such operations are crucial in maintaining law and order and preventing the social issues often associated with gambling.

The arrested individuals are likely to face charges under relevant sections of the Tamil Nadu Gaming Act. Further investigations are underway to determine if this was an isolated incident or part of a larger gambling network in the area.
