Coimbatore: A month-long awareness exhibition aimed at early detection of breast cancer was inaugurated this morning at Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore. The exhibition was launched by Dr. Kanakavalli Shanmuganathan, Chairman and Managing Director of Ganga Hospital.
The exhibition provides detailed information about breast cancer symptoms, methods for early detection, and treatment options. It emphasizes the importance of monthly breast self-examinations for women above 18 years and annual mammogram screenings.

Medical consultants are present to clarify misconceptions about chemotherapy and surgical procedures. They also explain how patients can return to normal life after breast cancer treatment and discuss breast reconstruction methods.
Ganga Hospital, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis, is implementing a project called "Sakthi". Under this initiative, free breast cancer screening and treatment are provided to women in villages and suburban areas. So far, 4,505 women have been screened in 89 camps, with 58 women diagnosed with cancer receiving free treatment.
The exhibition is open to the public from 10 AM to 4 PM until October 31st at the ground floor, B Block of Ganga Hospital. The hospital management has invited the public to visit the exhibition and benefit from the information provided.
