Passenger Alert: Five Train Services to Be Partially Cancelled, Short-Terminated on July 7

Southern Railway has announced temporary changes to five train services on July 7, 2026, due to ongoing track renewal works at the Karur Railway Yard. Passengers are advised to check the revised schedule before commencing their journey.


Chennai: Southern Railway has announced temporary changes to the operation of five train services on July 7, 2026, in view of the ongoing track renewal works at the Karur Railway Yard.

According to the Railway administration, Train No. 16846 Sengottai–Erode Express will be short-terminated at Karur. After the completion of the maintenance works, it will operate as an unreserved special train from Karur to Erode, following the same stoppages as the regular service.

Train No. 56809 Tiruchchirappalli–Erode Passenger will also be short-terminated at Karur Junction and will remain partially cancelled between Karur and Erode.

Similarly, Train No. 56106 Erode–Tiruchchirappalli Passenger will be short-terminated at Murthipalayam Railway Station and remain partially cancelled between Murthipalayam and Tiruchchirappalli Junction.

Train No. 16843 Tiruchchirappalli–Palakkad Town Express will be partially cancelled between Tiruchchirappalli Junction and Karur. The train will instead originate from Karur Junction at 2.20 p.m. and operate up to Palakkad Town.

Meanwhile, Train No. 16845 Erode–Sengottai Express will be partially cancelled between Erode and Karur and will commence its journey from Karur Junction at 3.05 p.m.

Southern Railway has urged passengers to take note of these temporary operational changes and verify the revised train schedules before planning their journey to avoid inconvenience.
