Indian Navy Sailor Arrested in Coimbatore for Allegedly Leaking Defence Data to Pak Operative

Coimbatore: Pradeep Mukherjee (31) from West Bengal was arrested by the Counter Intelligence (CI) Cell of the Andhra Pradesh Police in Coimbatore on Saturday morning over allegations of sharing sensitive defence information with a female Pakistani intelligence operative through social media.
According to reports, after confirming that he had transmitted classified information linked to the Visakhapatnam naval base through social media to a female Pakistani intelligence operative whom he had befriended online, Counter Intelligence investigators from Andhra Pradesh secured clearance from naval authorities to arrest him.
Following this, a CI team from Andhra Pradesh arrived at INS Agrani in Coimbatore on Saturday morning, where he was undergoing a management training course.
He was taken into custody and subsequently produced before a local magistrate, who issued a transit warrant. Following this, he was taken to the Counter Intelligence headquarters in Vijayawada for further interrogation.
